A mooring or positio very likely exhisted round this bay. It was one of the many constructions of Roman origins on the Dentiliana Headland.
Close to the bay is the Calvello Knoll, which name derives from its bareness due to the clearing of the site round the structures built on the coast, thus making it, if one might say so, bald.
