The original name of this tiny cove a few kilometres from the entrance into Porto S. Stefano is Cala dei Tonni (Tuna Cove). This name originates from the remains of a tuna breeding site belonging to the Domizi Enobarbi, an ancient Roman family who had devices for moray eels and tuna fishing installed in this coastal area.
Nowadays it is better known as the Bionda (the Blonde) a name which, according to the residents, refers to an unforgettable female character living in one of the villas built in the middle of last century.
